Last year, Hobbico said it employs 415 people in the county, and Horizon Hobby reported 341 employees.” ![]() The two companies were both formed in 1985 and are among the top 25 employers in the county, according to the Champaign County Economic Development Corp. “We will review the applications and get in touch with candidates with whom we are interested in moving forward,” the document said, later saying: “We plan to interview as many people as we can, but given the short time frame prior to closing, we will not likely be able to interview everyone.”Ī representative for Hobbico could not be reached for comment Monday, and a representative for Horizon said the company would issue a statement after the sale closes. However, “If you apply after the close of the transaction (April 6th), you would be considered a new applicant and treated like any other external candidate,” according to a document attached to Huppert’s email. If employees apply by Friday, their seniority with Hobbico will be used to determine when they’re eligible for benefits. “Employees who are selected to work in the Distribution Center could start on Saturday, April 7th through Express Employment.” “Due to time constraints with hiring/reviewing/interviewing 300+ employees, Express Employment is assisting Horizon with the recruitment process,” Huppert wrote. Hobbico employees will be applying for jobs in departments at Horizon rather than specific positions, and a temp agency is helping Horizon process the applications. Horizon is buying Hobbico’s Great Planes and Tower Hobbies divisions, along with its Axial and Arrma brands.Īlso on Monday, a bankruptcy judge approved a separate $7 million sale of Hobbico’s Colorado-based model-rocket subsidiary, Estes, to an organization called The Langford Group.Īn auction for Hobbico’s remaining assets - including United Model, Revell US and Revell Germany - was temporarily suspended last week. “Horizon and Hobbico have served many of the same retailers and customers for years,” Horizon CEO Joe Ambrose said when his company announced it would try to buy Hobbico’s RC units. It’s not clear how many of the employees will be hired at Horizon, especially since the two Champaign-based hobby-product distributors perform similar tasks. “As mentioned in yesterday’s Town Hall Meetings, Hobbico employees who are interested in being considered to work at Horizon Hobby are required to apply online,” Hobbico human resources manager Megan Huppert wrote Friday in an email obtained by The News-Gazette. Hobbico’s more than 300 employees were made aware of this possibility last week, after Horizon was the lone bidder in a bankruptcy auction for Hobbico, which filed for Chapter 11 protection in January with the goal of finding a new buyer. “A bankruptcy court judge approved Horizon Hobby’s $18.8 million purchase of Hobbico’s remote-control business Monday, which means Hobbico employees must reapply for their jobs at Horizon before the purchase is completed Friday. Here’s the scoop from the Champaign-based newspaper, the News Gazette: Geeze, call your programmers and tell them to add a decimal point fer cryin out loud.In the biggest RC industry buyout in recent history, Horizon Hobby is buying all of Hobbico’s RC-related brands. Yes, I see exactly what you are talking about"īut nothing was ever DONE about it. ![]() True, they are scale planes, but aren't the Goldberg planes scale too?īut what really bugs me is that about a year or two ago, I filled out a survey about their site, and I recieved a phone call from Tower asking what the problem was (There was no place to list the exact problem on the survey). Now, looking under "Scale Planes" you see the GP Skybolt and Extra 300. the Ultimate, and the Extra 300, but they list only list two Great Planes items. Next, When browsing by "Sport Planes", they list the Goldberg Chipmunk. You can see in the first pic that because they left out the "Dot" in the front of "0-.19" It appears out of order in all 3 places (There's a similar mistake on the engines page) This first thing is trivial, but it's annoying. As someone who works for a company that does websites, I have to say that Tower's is not bad, but there are a few places that needs improvement.

Similar to the Merchant, the Tinker needs to be assassinated, preferably towards the start of the match. At low levels, a Tinker can't support any race with Smelting or Quarrying so can be a bit of a dead weight. The Warrior excels at surviving combat situations and successfully striking powerful blows to enemies. Nearly all Orc units use Metal or Stone, so access to both Smelting and Quarrying is a massive bonus to the race's resources and its horde-like playstyle. Back to Heroes The Warrior is a hero class dedicated to the exchanging of melee blows in combat. Despite this, the Undead's presence on the map can be felt immediately, with hundreds of nearly Piercing-immune units. The Undead's units tend to be superior to those of most other races, though they may suffer from economic problems due to the units' high expense. Weirdly, an Orc Tinker may provide a Merchant style class for the Orcs at a higher level. The Undead are a very potent and unique race in Warlords Battlecry 3. All of this combines to make one of the most powerful hero class combinations available in Warlords Battlecry 3. If you have any resources spare, you can simply Transmute them into a different type as well. The real power of the Dark Dwarf Tinker doesn't come until later levels though, where the hero gets access to Smelting and Quarrying - perfect to produce all those Stone and Iron Golems. Alchemy allows the instantaneous conversion of all mines in the command radius as well as provide some other nifty tricks such as Summon Guardian, Transmute and Brew Potion. Although the Tinker usually requires a higher level before becoming a fantastic full support hero class, once it has reached that level, it is easily as powerful as any Merchant and supports a bucket full of tricks.Ī great combo for the Tinker would be with the Dark Dwarves. Unlike the Merchant, the Tinker buffs buildings instead of decreasing the cost of everything even further and has access to a great spell sphere in Alchemy. Much like the Merchant, the Tinker has powerful resource gaining abilities and support options. The abilities you get by choosing this class: The attribute changes you get by choosing this class: Summoner\Necromancer\Ice elementalist- whatever. The Tinker is a support hero class focused on improving the health of buildings, gaining the resources that the Merchant can't (albeit at a higher level) and the Alchemy spell sphere. You can be a conjurer\necromancer if you pick the conjurer class and join the Necromancy god (he will give you a book of necromancy shortly after joining him.) Really, you can be whatever class you find spellbooks for. The cool thing is you're not tied to a class. There are quite a number of summoning and necromancy spells, as well as conjuration, hex, charm, translocation, transmutation and elemental magic spells. Necromancy also has a bunch of attack spells versus living and undead creatures, though I'm not sure if they have anything against demons. ![]() It has a bunch of spells that create permanent summons from skeletons or corpses (the summons from the book of summoning only last a short while.) The higher level necromancy spell I think allow you to enslave a soul permanently to your aid. But DCSS has a bunch of unique aspects as well, particularly the Gods. If you happen to miscast Summon scorpion there's a chance that you will summon a hostile scorpion, so.ĭCSS in general feels like a Lord of the Rings pen and paper game transfered to a rogue like. You will eventually happen to run across a high level summoning book where you can summon hydras or dragons. As your summoning skill increases the spell's power level also gets better, so initially you can only summon jackals and hounds with summon canine familiar but eventually you get war dogs and wolves and maybe even wargs or something (Wolf approximate size of a horse.) ![]() I think there was something else as well. Spells for the starting summoning book is ![]() ![]() If your character survives long enough you can eventually get both skills. In dungeon crawl stone soup you can be a summoner or a necromancer. So it is very hard to make direct links connecting all myths. Others are what was tales were common to a certain region. Obviously with a lot of these type of stories there are different variation depending on the myth you look at - and some of these variations are just as time passes and stories are told orally, changes are made. Will this also mean that since Amren used her power in ACOWAR and is now just a “high fae” she will attend starfall? I’m wondering if Is she afraid of being taken with the wild hunt?ĭoes she think the Wild hunt will see her for what she really is and therefore does not want to risk it. Is this is why Amren hates starfall? had a thought that perhaps starfall marked the day Amren arrived in Prythian. In some instances, it was also believed that people’s spirits could be pulled away during their sleep to join the cavalcade. People encountering the Hunt might also be abducted to the underworld or the fairy kingdom. Seeing the Wild Hunt was thought to presage some catastrophe such as war or plague, or at best the death of the one who witnessed it. The Wild hunt also “abducts” people to the underworld or fairy kingdom. The hunters may be either elves or fairies or the dead, and the leader of the hunt is often a named figure associated with Woden (or other reflections of the same god, such as Alemannic Wuodan in Wuotis Heer (“Wuodan’s Army”) of Central Switzerland, Swabia etc.), but may variously be a historical or legendary figure like Theodoric the Great, the Danish king Valdemar Atterdag, the Welsh psychopomp Gwyn ap Nudd, biblical figures such as Herod, Cain, Gabriel or the Devil, or an unidentified lost soul or spirit either male or female The Wild Hunt is a European folk myth involving a ghostly or supernatural group of huntsmen passing in wild pursuit. But we know that the hunt is to take souls/spirits/people who are out when they shouldn’t be - to the underworld. ![]() It’s never confirmed who is actually leading the hunt. The Wild hunt has many different leaders. So if we view Rhysand as Hades and the night court as the edge of the underworld, we would be looking at the wild hunt and those it hunts/captures descending into the underworld. ![]() We know that Rhysand is referenced to as a Hades type in ACOMAF when he took Feyre away for 1 week out of 4 a month. We know that the night court is at- the end of the earth/world. The wild hunt collects souls that are to be taken to the underworld. Is Starfall a reference to “the wild hunt” in folk lore/mythology. what holidays are there in TOG/ACOTAR that could be linked…. REMEMBER I THINK TOG AND ACOTAR ARE LINKED SOMEHOW - SEE THIS ERILEA POST, had some great points and I’m going to expand on one of them, use them in my discussion “think - Sliders and parallel worlds.” So I started to wonder if Samhain in the TOG series was a later version of some more ancient ritual… because Elena is allowed to have a physical presence on that night. (I thought it was just in reference to Amarantha letting people out but what if it’s something more?) ![]() Then I remember on Calanmai where Rhysand said that - all creatures/beasts? get to walk the earth on that day - or some jazz like that. (when I started writing this)Īnd it got me thinking about it being the kind of night when spirits can pass through to our world.Īnd I saw a post about faerie gates on tumblrįaerie and wyrd - both have an etymology to the word fate ![]() Ok Guys… another theory… is coming…If I could animate I would make you a pretty video with me talking over the top, but I can’t - so it’s just lots of words. ![]() (Photo: Mer Norwood) Journey from surviving to thriving The “Hawaiian Fried Rice” and “Orange Chicken” at Zen Thai Cafe. You work hard, you get what you want,” she said. “I don’t think being Asian is a disadvantage. But she’s careful not to label herself as a victim. Nationally, the number of AAPI business owners (both men and women) is estimated to have decreased by more than a quarter since the start of the pandemic. In a 2021 survey, AAPI small-business owners cited access to capital as their number one challenge, in addition to the wave of anti-Asian sentiment and hate incidents, all of which have heavily impacted owners’ ability to operate. The pandemic disproportionately harmed women of color, and Asian women, in particular, endured some of the harshest economic effects of the crisis, according to the Center for American Progress. Unfortunately, her story of struggle was not uncommon across the U.S. Zen Thai Cafe offers an extensive menu of Vietnamese coffees, boba teas, cocktails, classic Thai dishes, and some Asian-American favorites. But despite her best efforts, she said she finally had to sell her house to keep the restaurant afloat. McAuley got creative – applying for loans, and grants, changing up the menu and the hours, and applying for the City’s temporary outdoor permit. This is the only thing I have for myself and my daughter.” “Every day I wake up, I ask myself, whatever happens, I got to do my best. “I decide to cook by myself, clean by myself, just to keep the restaurant running,” she said. It came down to the impossible choice between saving her business and supporting her employees. The forced shutdown followed by coronavirus-related restrictions slowed business to nearly a halt. She said the hardest part was laying people off. People started to not come in because they were scared.” “We got hit first because we are an Asian restaurant. (Photo: Kyle Niemier) Strength and resilienceĪfter opening, McAuley poured everything into her business and was just starting to get it off the ground when the pandemic hit. Rachel McAuley, owner-operator of Zen Thai Cafe, pours a drink behind the bar. The bustling sidewalks, street art, nightlife, and light rail running past make having a restaurant Downtown feel like “an honor.” “I love Downtown because – look at this!” she said, motioning out the window. The result was Zen Thai Cafe, which grew in popularity among students from ASU Downtown and the Phoenix Biomedical Core, business professionals, and convention travelers. Blending some of Tom Yum’s classic dishes with her own creations, she rebranded with her own concept in 2018. Without skipping a beat, she refocused on Downtown Phoenix. McAuley purchased the business in 2017, formerly known as Tom Yum Thai Restaurant, after Zen Culinary in Scottsdale – her first project – shuttered after less than a year. Yet AAPI women were one of the fastest-growing demographics of entrepreneurs prior to the pandemic. Rachel McAuley is part of a small community of Asian-American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) in Phoenix, just over 4 percent (compared to 6.5 percent nationally), according to the 2020 U.S. That’s the big memories with food for me.” That is the thing that’s shaped me to want to have everyone involved, you know, participating or connecting with each other. “Back home, you would just eat together…you shared everything together,” she said. Sometimes there were big celebratory events where the entire community would come together over food, sharing their favorite dishes. ![]() She said neighbors would often gather to hang out and share food while the kids would run around and play. It was a dream that started as a young child growing up in Thailand – a place where food, family, and community were inextricably linked. ![]() “The experience of eating good food, and to be happy, to hang out…for me, it fulfills the dream.” “I often call my customers ‘Zen family,’” she said. Whether she’s in the kitchen, behind the bar, or making rounds amongst the tables chatting with guests, her warm and inviting presence makes the Downtown Phoenix eatery feel like home - and she wouldn’t have it any other way. Chef Rachel McAuley greets everyone who walks into Zen Thai Cafe with a luminous smile. Although results from such studies are awaited, an understanding of the clinical heterogeneity of breast cancer must be based on a multiplicity of observations, each of which characterizes, in a limited way, the biology of this disease. The relative importance of these factors will require further large-scale, prospective, multiparameter studies. Management of patients with breast cancer requires an individualized approach that is based on a careful weighing of a variety of prognostic considerations. Finally, tumors that amplify or overexpress the HER-2 gene may have a higher risk of relapse, although this finding has been questioned. Histologic grade, DNA ploidy, and S-phase fraction can also be used to help define the high-risk patient. Progesterone-receptor status is associated with both disease-free and overall survival, whereas ER status is independently related only to overall survival. The number of involved axillary nodes is the most important established predictor. Some of these same prognostic factors, along with several others, can be used to characterize the high-risk node-positive patient. Those with several of the high-risk characteristics listed in Table 2 should receive strongest consideration for adjuvant treatment. Breast cancer is the most frequently occurring cancer in women and its incidence has been steadily increasing in China1, 2.Despite the rising incidence of breast cancer, the survival rates have improved in recent years due to the deep research in biology behavior of breast cancer3, 4. For now, a prudent approach might be to gather as much prognostic information about each patient's tumor as possible. Flow cytometric DNA content analysis must be applied with caution, however, because the calculation of S-phase fraction has not been standardized and because the prognostic utility of this approach has not been prospectively confirmed. Some studies have shown that aneuploidy or a high S-phase fraction may be independent, high-risk characteristics. Histologic and nuclear grade may be important, but problems of interobserver variability remain. ![]() Tumor size and ER status are established prognostic factors. Because most women with this early stage of disease will be cured by surgery alone, the use of adjuvant chemotherapy must be limited to high-risk subsets. This clinical dilemma-recognition of the high-risk patient-is particularly important in the management of women with node-negative breast cancer. No single characteristic, however, is likely to fully define which patient with primary breast cancer is destined to relapse. Some of these characteristics are firmly established, whereas others are observer dependent or require prospective validation. A variety of tumor characteristics can provide prognostic information useful in managing the patient with primary breast cancer. |
